This was the first attempt at making the dog homemade treats. She was hesitant at first but she ended up loving them. Nik tried them and said they certainly were too bland for humans :)

Categories     Peanut Butter

Time 40m

Yield 36 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1 1/4 cups canned pumpkin
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup water, approximately

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • Place all ingredients (except water) in a bowl and mix well. Add water as needed to combine ingredients.
  • Flour a work surface and roll dough out to 1/4" thickness. Cut with dog cookie cutters. Place on greased cookie sheet. What ever dough is left can be placed as drop type cookies.
  • Bake for 20 minutes (if you want a really hard cookie, bake for 5-10 minutes longer).
  • Yield will vary depending on size of cookie cutters.

Tips:

- Use old-fashioned oats for a heartier treat. Quick-cooking oats will work, but they'll result in a softer treat. - If you don't have a food processor, you can mash the oats with a fork or use a blender. - Be sure to chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the treats hold their shape. - Bake the treats until they are just set. Overbaking will make them dry and crumbly. - Let the treats cool completely before storing them. They will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

These peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats are a delicious and healthy way to show your furry friend how much you care. They are made with wholesome ingredients that are good for dogs, and they are easy to make. You can even customize the treats by adding different flavors, such as bacon, cheese, or apple. So next time you're looking for a special treat for your dog, give these peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats a try. Your dog will love them!
