Categories     Fruit Desserts

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cram
1 ts. vanilla extract
4 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup grand marnier
1 quart strawberries

Steps:

  • 1. Heat milk, cream and vanilla in double boiler over simmering water until hot but not boiling.
  • 2. Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a bowl. Stir a small amount of the hot milk mixture into egg yolks; stir the egg yolks into the hot milk mixture gradually. Cook for 10 minutes or until sauce coats back of spoon. Do not allow to boil or the sauce will curdle. Remove from heat and then stir in liqueur.
  • 3. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools. Cut strawberries into halves or slices. Spoon strawberries evenly into four wine goblets, martini glasses or dessert bowls. Drizzle sauce over strawberries. The sauce may be served warm or chilled. Serves 4

Tips:

  • To select the best strawberries, choose those that are plump, red, and have a sweet aroma.
  • If using frozen strawberries, thaw them completely before using.
  • To make the Grand Marnier syrup, use a saucepan with a heavy bottom to prevent burning.
  • Bring the syrup to a simmer and let it cool slightly before adding the strawberries.
  • If you don't have Grand Marnier, you can substitute another orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or triple sec.
  • To make the whipped cream, use heavy cream with a fat content of at least 35%. This will help the whipped cream hold its shape better.
  • Add the sugar and vanilla extract to the whipped cream gradually, while beating on high speed.
  • Serve the strawberries immediately, topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of Grand Marnier syrup.

Conclusion:

This delicious dessert is perfect for any occasion. The combination of sweet, juicy strawberries and rich, flavorful Grand Marnier syrup is sure to please everyone. The whipped cream adds a light and airy texture, making this dish a truly special treat. Whether you're serving it at a party or enjoying it as a special treat for yourself, this recipe is sure to be a hit.
