Steps:
- Add ground beef, salt, pepper and garlic to a large skillet then brown and crumble over medium-high heat. When beef is about half cooked, add onion, celery and red pepper flakes then continue cooking until beef is cooked through and veggies are starting to become translucent. Do not drain. Spray a medium-sized casserole dish (1.5 quart) with cooking spray or rub with butter. In a separate bowl, whisk together broth and soup until smooth. Pour soup mixture and rice into skillet and stir until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated. Pour into prepared casserole dish, cover tightly with aluminum foil then bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until rice is tender. Remove casserole from oven and let rest, covered, for 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Notes: You can use other creamed soup flavors such as cream of onion or cream of mushroom. Use uncooked rice. I don't know if this can be made with Minute rice or brown rice because I've never cooked either type of rice. This recipe doubles easily in a 3-qt 13x9 dish. Cook 15-30 minutes longer or until rice is tender. You must cover the dish TIGHTLY with foil to ensure the moisture stays inside to cook the rice through. I don't know how this could be converted to a slow cooker recipe.

HAMBURGER AND RICE CASSEROLE
This is a modified version of a casserole my mom made. I added the chow mein noodles one day on a whim and now it's standard for this casserole. It's quick and easy - you can bake it or my preference - microwave! I use reduced fat/healthy request soup and have used fat free cheese and it still turns out good!

Tips:
- Use high-quality ground beef. The better the quality of the beef, the tastier the casserole will be. Look for ground beef that is at least 80% lean.
- Don't overcook the ground beef. Overcooked ground beef is tough and dry. Cook it until it is just browned through.
- Use a variety of vegetables. This will add flavor and texture to the casserole. Some good options include onions, celery, carrots, and green bell peppers.
- Use a flavorful sauce. The sauce is what will really bring the casserole together. You can use a store-bought sauce or make your own. Some good options include tomato sauce, cream of mushroom soup, or gravy.
- Don't be afraid to experiment. There are many different ways to make a hamburger and rice casserole. Don't be afraid to try different ingredients and flavors to find what you like best.
Conclusion:
Hamburger and rice casserole is a quick, easy, and affordable meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. It is also a great way to use up leftover hamburger. With a few simple ingredients, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal on the table in no time.
