Time 4h15m

Yield 9

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 pounds pork shoulder
1 cup clear carbonated beverage, like club soda or lemon-lime soda
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground oregano
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing
1 Reynolds® Slow Cooker Liner
Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil

Steps:

  • Line your slow cooker with a Reynolds® Slow Cooker Liner. Place the pork, soda, garlic, chili powder, oregano, and Worcestershire sauce in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
  • When the meat falls apart easily, remove the meat from the slow cooker liner and transfer to a cutting board. Shred it with two forks. Place meat back in the lined slow cooker and add the balsamic dressing and stir with the liquid in the slow cooker. The meat should be saucy and moist.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (or use the broil setting if you have that) transfer the mixture to a baking sheet lined with Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil. Spread it in an even, thin layer and cook in the preheated oven until the juices are bubbling and the edges are crispy, 10-15 minutes (5-7 minutes if you have a broil setting).
  • Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy on sandwiches, with a baked potato, or however else you want to enjoy it.

Pork Shanks (Chamorra) in Mole- Super Easy Slow Cooker image

Our administrator thinks his mother is the best cook in the world. So when I mentioned that I'd had this great dish at a restaurant, and he mentioned that mole is so easy the way his mother does it, I needed the recipe. I've made it many times and maybe Carlos is right: his mother just might be the best cook! So simple, but tasty as all get out.

Tips:

  • Pork shoulder is the best cut of pork for slow cooking. It is a tough cut of meat, but the slow cooking process breaks down the connective tissue and makes it fall-apart tender.
  • Sear the pork shoulder before slow cooking it. This will help to develop a nice flavor and crust.
  • Use a flavorful liquid to cook the pork shoulder in. This could be anything from chicken broth to apple cider.
  • Add aromatics to the slow cooker along with the pork shoulder. This could include onions, garlic, carrots, celery, or herbs.
  • Cook the pork shoulder on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-6 hours.
  • Let the pork shoulder rest for 15-20 minutes before shredding it.
  • Serve the pork shoulder with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or coleslaw.

Conclusion:

Slow cooker pork shoulder is a delicious and easy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is also a great way to use up leftover pork shoulder. With a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will love.
