Northern White Chili image

This is different from any other white chicken chili recipe we've tried. It's on the mild side and creamy but where it differs is the addition of clove. When you first take a bite, you taste the seasoning and won't be able to put your finger on it. It's a secret ingredient that adds to the overall flavor of this one-pot chicken...

3 c cooked chicken, I buy a rotisserie chicken
2 can(s) northern white beans, 15 oz each
3 Tbsp chopped onion
1 tsp butter
1 can(s) chiles, canned and mild
1/2 tsp oregano, dried
1 dash(es) cayenne pepper
2 c water
3 chicken bouillon cube
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cloves
1 c heavy cream
shredded monterey cheese
sour cream

Steps:

  • 1. Shred cooked chicken.
  • 2. Sauté onion in butter until tender.
  • 3. Add all ingredients minus cream, sour cream, and cheese.
  • 4. Let simmer on high for one hour or low for as long as needed. Thirty minutes before time to eat, add heavy cream.
  • 5. Serve with shredded cheese and sour cream (opt).
