Black-eyed Susans attract butterflies when planted in masses, and you'll draw a crowd when you make these "conversation" cookies. They may be a little more time-consuming than some cookies, but their sunny faces and gumdrop centers are worth it the extra time. -Grace Pack, Beaver, West Virginia

1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 cup sour cream
1 cup white sugar

2 sticks chilled unsalted butter, cut into bits
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1/2 cup milk, approximately

Susan's Peanut Butter Quickies image

This is the easiest cookie recipe I have ever made! It has only 4 ingredients and is DELICIOUS with coffee. When I first found this recipe, I thought it was too simple to be good....boy, was I wrong.

Provided by SooZeeQ

Categories     Drop Cookies

Time 15m

Yield 24 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
1 cup sugar (can use 1/2 c. white and 1/2 c. brown...my preference)
1 egg

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients and drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet.
  • Bake 375 for 10 minutes. Do not overcook. Cookies will become crisp as they cool.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality butter. This will make your cookies richer and more flavorful. Make sure to use unsalted butter so that you can control the amount of salt in the cookies.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help to incorporate air into the dough, which will make your cookies lighter and more tender.
  • Chill the dough before baking. This will help to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies at a moderate temperature. This will help to prevent the cookies from burning.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before storing them. This will help to prevent the cookies from becoming soft and crumbly.

Conclusion:

These all-butter cookies are a classic recipe that is sure to please everyone. They are simple to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you are a beginner baker or a seasoned pro, these cookies are a great addition to your recipe repertoire.
