8 Cups Crispy Rice Cereal
30 + Swedish Fish Candies
2 Boxes Fruit by the Foot

Steps:

  • Prepare large rimmed baking sheet pan by lining with wax paper and generously buttering or spraying with nonstick.

Time 10m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 tablespoon butter, cut into pieces
12 regular marshmallows
2 cups puffed rice cereal (recommended: Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal)
4 fruit roll-ups (pressed dried fruit rounds, 8 inches) any brand, any flavor
8 strips licorice candy (recommended: Twizzler's brand), any flavor ? pieces should be 6 to 7 inches long, trim to match width of roll-ups

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows. Stir marshmallows until completely melted. Remove mixture from heat and add cereal. Stir to coat cereal evenly in melted marshmallows.
  • Roll out the fruit roll-ups. Place 1/4 of the coated cereal onto each fruit roll up and spread and gather toward 1 side of roll up. Place 2 licorice twists onto the center of the spread out cereal mix. Wrap and roll the candy and fruit, maneuvering the licorice to the center of the roll, so that the finished product resembles a sushi roll. Repeat with remaining rolls.
  • Place a sharp knife into a bowl of very warm water. Cut candy sushi with warm knife and arrange on a plate then serve.

HOMEMADE SWEDISH FISH CANDY

Homemade Swedish Fish Candy image

I discovered this recipe online and knowing how much I love Swedish Fish and how much everyone else I know loves them I thought I would share it just in case. I don't know how many fish this recipe will make so my serving size is a guess so is my prep time for that matter as I have not yet made this recipe.

Time 20m

Yield 12 pieces, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (6 ounce) package fruit flavored gelatin (cherry or fruit punch is probably closest to the original flavor)
7 (1/4 ounce) packages unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
candy molds

Steps:

  • Combine the dry ingredients. Stir the flavored and unflavored gelatin in a saucepan until well incorporated.
  • Add 1/2 cup cold water to the gelatin mixture and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon or spatula. The gelatin should clump up into a large, messy ball.
  • Move the saucepan to the stove set heat to medium or medium-low heat. Stir the mixture until it has melted back into liquid form. Be sure to constantly stir the mixture so that it does not burn.
  • As soon as the mixture has completely liquefied, remove it from the heat. Using a small spoon, scoop the mixture into the molds, gently tapping the mold each time on the counter top to get the mixture to into each crack of the fish mold.
  • Put the filled mold into the freezer for about 15 minutes. This will freeze the mixture enough for you to easily remove the fish from their molds.
  • Remove the Swedish fish and enjoy. Take the fish mold out of the freezer and remove the fish before they have had a chance to thaw. If you wait too long, the fish will be harder to remove. Let the fish sit at room temperature for a little while to defrost, and then enjoy.

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 cup(s) rice crispy's cereal
2 cup(s) mini marshmallows
1 1/2 tablespoon(s) butter
4-5 - sour straws, green apple flavor, quartered and julienned
35 - swedish fish
3 - fruit roll-ups, green, cut into 1/4 inch slices

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan on low heat, melt butter and marshmallows. Add rice crispy cereal and stir to combine. Press rice crispy treat mixture into an even layer in a greased 9in by 9in baking pan and chill for atleast 5 minutes. (I let it chill while I prep my candy)
  • To assemble: Cut rice crispy treats into 1in by 1 1/2in rectangles, place 2 julienned slices of sour straw and 1 swedish fish in the center of each treat and wrap with 1 slice of fruit roll-up to secure the swedish fish, repeat with the remaining rice crispy treats.

Tips:

  • Prep the Ingredients: Before you start assembling the sushi, make sure all your ingredients are prepped and ready to go. This includes slicing the Swedish Fish and cutting the nori sheets.
  • Use Sticky Rice: For the best sushi experience, use Japanese short-grain rice, which is known for its sticky texture when cooked. Be sure to rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking to remove any excess starch.
  • Season the Rice: Once the rice is cooked, season it with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. This will give the sushi rice its characteristic tangy and slightly sweet flavor.
  • Work with Wet Hands: To prevent the rice from sticking to your hands, wet them with water before handling it. This will also help you shape the sushi rolls more easily.
  • Roll Tightly: Use a bamboo rolling mat to roll the sushi rolls as tightly as possible. This will help keep the rolls together and prevent them from falling apart.
  • Chill before Slicing: After rolling the sushi, place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to chill. This will make it easier to slice the rolls into even pieces.

Conclusion:

Swedish Fish candy sushi is a creative and fun way to enjoy this popular candy. By combining Swedish Fish with traditional sushi ingredients like rice, nori, and fillings, you can create a unique and delicious treat that is sure to impress your friends and family. With a little preparation and some simple techniques, you can easily make this sushi at home. So, gather your ingredients, get creative, and have fun making your own Swedish Fish candy sushi!
