Meanwhile, slice the green and red peppers into 1/4-inch strips. Add the peppers to the pan with the liquid from the sauteed ham, and cook over medium-high heat. Slice the corn off the cob, and add it to the pan with the peppers. Continue sauteing until vegetables are crisp yet tender. Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 1/4 lbs ham steaks
1/4-1/2 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
1 tablespoon raw sugar

Steps:

  • Open ham steak package and drain off any liquid in the package.
  • Add ham steak to a hot iron skillet ~ sprinkle generously with coarsely ground black pepper.

  • Sprinkle one tablespoon raw sugar over hot ham steak ~ continue searing for about one minute while sugar melts. Turn over, then over again, searing both sides, browning slightly!

Tips:

  • Choose the right ham steaks. Look for ham steaks that are about 1 inch thick and have a good amount of marbling. This will help ensure that the ham steaks are juicy and flavorful.
  • Prepare the ham steaks properly. Before cooking, trim any excess fat from the ham steaks. You can also score the ham steaks by making shallow cuts across the surface. This will help the marinade penetrate the ham steaks and make them more flavorful.
  • Use a flavorful marinade. There are many different marinades that you can use for ham steaks. Some popular options include a honey mustard marinade, a brown sugar marinade, or a pineapple marinade. Be sure to marinate the ham steaks for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Cook the ham steaks over medium heat. This will help prevent the ham steaks from drying out. You can cook the ham steaks on the grill, in a skillet, or in the oven.
  • Don't overcook the ham steaks. Ham steaks are best when they are cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help ensure that the ham steaks are juicy and tender.
