Time 10m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 ounces fresh cranberries, diced
1/4 cup green onion, chopped
1 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped (optional)
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 dash salt
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium-sized bowl, add chopped cranberries, green onion, cilantro and jalapeno. (NOTE: Don't use a food processor to chop these. It is slightly time consuming, but the cranberries will liquify if they are not hand-chopped.).
  • 2. Pour sugar, lemon juice and salt over cranberry mixture and stir gently until blended.
  • 3. Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for at least one hour. If you prefer less tart cranberries, keep in the refrigerator overnight.
  • 4. Take cranberry mixture out of the refrigerator and stir all ingredients together. Strain out the liquid using a colander with small holes.
  • 5. Spread cream cheese over bottom of a pie plate or 9×9 dish.
  • 6. Pour cranberry mixture atop cream cheese and keep in refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • 7. Serve with Ritz crackers and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For a smoother dip, blend the mixture in a blender or food processor until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeños used in the recipe according to your desired level of spiciness. Start with fewer jalapeños and add more to taste.
  • Don't forget to remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeños before chopping them. This will help reduce the spiciness of the dip.
  • Use fresh, ripe ingredients for the best flavor. Stale or old ingredients will result in a less flavorful dip.
  • If you can't find fresh cilantro, you can use dried cilantro instead. However, fresh cilantro will give the dip a brighter, more flavorful taste.
  • Serve the dip with a variety of dippers, such as tortilla chips, vegetable sticks, or crackers.

Conclusion:

This sweet and spicy jalapeño dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any party or gathering. With its creamy texture, zesty flavor, and just the right amount of heat, this dip is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Whether you serve it with tortilla chips, vegetable sticks, or crackers, this dip will be a hit. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give this sweet and spicy jalapeño dip a try. You won't be disappointed!
