Steps:
- Reserve juice from green beans (I only use 2/3 of the bean juice).
- Take ½ slice of bacon and lay 10-12 green beans in middle. Wrap bacon around bundle of beans and weave the toothpick through the bacon to hold it together.
- Lay bundles in a jellyroll type pan.
- Mix 1/3 cup brown sugar with bean juice and pour over bean bundles.
- Pour melted butter over all.
- Sprinkle allspice on bacon.
- Bake at 350 for 20 minutes and turn bundles.
- Sprinkle with allspice and bake 15 minutes.
- (You can reduce the cooking time and turn the broiler on for a couple of minutes to brown bacon).
Tips:
- Choose tender and crisp green beans for best results.
- Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then immediately transfer them to ice water to stop the cooking process and preserve their color.
- Use a variety of fillings to create different flavor combinations; some popular options include almond slivers, grated parmesan cheese, crumbled bacon, chopped nuts, or diced vegetables.
- Wrap the green bean bundles tightly with prosciutto or bacon to ensure that they stay together during cooking.
- Bake the green bean bundles at a high temperature (400°F or 200°C) for a short amount of time (10-15 minutes) to prevent them from drying out.
- Serve the green bean bundles immediately with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as ranch dressing, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce.
Conclusion:
Sweet green bean bundles are a delicious and versatile appetizer or side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be customized to suit your own taste preferences. With a little creativity, you can create a variety of different flavor combinations that will impress your guests.
