Tips:

  • Use high-quality tuna: Opt for tuna that is packed in water or olive oil and avoid tuna that is packed in oil, as this can make the sandwich greasy.
  • Choose the right bread: A sturdy bread, such as sourdough or whole wheat, will hold up well to the filling. You can also use a croissant or baguette for a more indulgent sandwich.
  • Use fresh herbs: Tarragon is the key herb in this sandwich, so use fresh tarragon whenever possible. If you don't have fresh tarragon, you can use dried tarragon, but use half the amount.
  • Don't overcook the tuna: Tuna is a delicate fish, so it's important not to overcook it. Cook the tuna until it is just opaque in the center.
  • Use a good quality cheese: A sharp cheddar or Gruyère cheese will add a lot of flavor to the sandwich. You can also use a combination of cheeses.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: This recipe is a great starting point, but feel free to experiment with different ingredients and flavors. For example, you could add some chopped celery or onion to the filling, or you could use a different type of cheese.

Conclusion:

The tarragon tuna melt is a classic sandwich that is perfect for a quick and easy lunch or dinner. It's also a great way to use up leftover tuna. With its creamy, cheesy filling and crispy bread, the tarragon tuna melt is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
