TASTY ONION CHICKEN

Tasty Onion Chicken image

This is a tremendously simple and satisfying dish to make. The mustard/butter combo adds flavor while also helping to seal in moisture. (The french friend onions also add an irresistible "crunch" with every bite!)

Provided by Wendy Gardner

Categories     Chicken

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 c butter, melted
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard, ground
2.8 oz can french fried onions, crushed
4 chicken breast halves, skinless and boneless

Steps:

  • 1. In a shallow bowl, combine butter, Worcestershire sauce and mustard. Place onions in another shallow bowl.
  • 2. Dip chicken in butter mixture, then coat with onions. Place in a greased 11-in x 7-in x 2-in. baking dish; drizzle with remaining butter mixture.
  • 3. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 20-25 minutes or until chicken juices run clear.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken: Use boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs for best results. If using chicken breasts, slice them into thin strips or cut them into bite-sized pieces.
  • Marinate the chicken: Marinating the chicken in a mixture of soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger will help it to tenderize and add flavor.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the chicken, make sure to not overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the chicken from cooking evenly.
  • Cook the chicken until it is done: The chicken is done when it is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: Feel free to use a variety of vegetables in your onion chicken dish. Some good options include bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and snap peas.
  • Serve over rice or noodles: Onion chicken is traditionally served over rice or noodles. However, you can also serve it with other sides such as mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.

Conclusion:

Onion chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover chicken. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a flavorful and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
