Time 12m

Yield 1 drink

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 Irish breakfast tea bag
1 1/2 ounces Scotch or brandy
1 heaping tablespoon honey
Boiling water
1/2 cinnamon stick
1 slice lemon
Pinch ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • In a coffee mug, place the tea bag, Scotch, and honey. Add enough boiling water (about 3/4 cup) to fill the mug. Add the cinnamon and lemon, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and cinnamon stick.
  • Sprinkle lightly with the nutmeg and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of tea. Black tea is the most common type of tea used to make a toddy, but you can also use green tea, white tea, or herbal tea.
  • Use fresh, cold water. Boiling water will kill the flavor of the tea.
  • Steep the tea for the recommended amount of time. Over-steeping the tea will make it bitter.
  • Add your desired sweetener and spices. Common sweeteners include honey, sugar or maple syrup while spices can include cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg or ginger.
  • Garnish your toddy with a lemon twist or orange slice.

Conclusion:

A hot toddy is a delicious and soothing drink that can be enjoyed on a cold winter night. By following these tips, you can make a perfect toddy that will warm you up from the inside out.
