Steps:
- Tex-Mex Marinade In a large bowl, combine 1 packet Tex-Mex paste, 2 TBSP orange juice (mandarin juice is one of our favorites here-you could also use pineapple juice!), and 2 tsp lime juice. Add 10 oz protein (we love shrimp, chicken breast strips, diced steak, or diced pork); toss to coat. Let marinate for 30 minutes. Cook in a large pan over medium-high heat until protein is browned and cooked through and marinade is reduced and lightly charred.
- Tex-Mex Taco Filling In a large pan, cook 10 oz ground protein (we love beef, pork, turkey, or plant-based protein!) until browned and cooked through. Stir in 1 packet Tex-Mex paste until thoroughly combined. For an additional flavor boost, stir in 1 TBSP Southwest Seasoning. Use in tacos, burritos, or burrito bowls!
- Tex-Mex Citrus Pan Sauce In a large pan, combine 1 packet Tex-Mex paste, ¼ cup pineapple or orange juice, and a squeeze of lime juice. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring, until thickened, 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1 TBSP butter. Spoon over your favorite protein (we especially love it on salmon and barramundi!). Serve with rice and fresh salsa for a quick and easy meal.

Tips:
- Choose ripe tomatoes: Use ripe, juicy tomatoes for the best flavor. Roma tomatoes are a good option because they have fewer seeds and more flesh.
- Roast the tomatoes: Roasting the tomatoes intensifies their flavor and sweetness. You can roast them in the oven or on the grill.
- Use a variety of chiles: Different chiles have different flavor profiles. For a mild paste, use Anaheim or poblano chiles. For a medium heat, use serrano or jalapeño chiles. For a hot paste, use habanero or cayenne chiles.
- Add spices and herbs: Spices and herbs add depth of flavor to the paste. Common spices used in Tex-Mex cuisine include cumin, chili powder, oregano, and garlic powder. Common herbs include cilantro, parsley, and Mexican oregano.
- Adjust the consistency: The consistency of the paste can be adjusted by adding more or less liquid. If you want a thicker paste, add less liquid. If you want a thinner paste, add more liquid.
- Store the paste properly: Store the paste in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. You can also freeze the paste for up to 3 months.
Conclusion:
Tex-Mex paste is a versatile condiment that can be used in a variety of dishes. It can be used as a marinade, a sauce, or a dip. It can also be added to soups, stews, and casseroles. With its bold flavors and easy-to-make preparation, Tex-Mex paste is a great way to add some spice to your next meal.
