THE ORIGINAL PAINKILLER

This is a recipe from Ivan's on Jost Van Dyke, BVI. This recipe originated at the Soggy Dollar Bar just down the beach...But they wouldn't share their recipe. Luckly Tal, my favorite bartender, did.

THE PAINKILLER COCKTAIL

Provided by Food Network

Yield 1 serving

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 oz Dark Rum (Pusser's recommended)
4 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Orange Juice
1 oz Coco Lopez, Cream of Coconut
Nutmeg, for garnish

Steps:

  • Fill large (beer or water) glass with ice. Pour all ingredients except the nutmeg into glass. Stir with long spoon until ingredients are mixed. Grate whole nutmeg on top of drink or sprinkle with ground nutmeg.

Tips:

  • Use fresh pineapple juice: Fresh pineapple juice has a brighter flavor and more nutrients than store-bought juice. If you don't have fresh pineapple, you can use canned pineapple juice, but be sure to choose unsweetened juice.
  • Chill your glasses beforehand: This will help to keep your Painkillers cold and refreshing.
  • Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a cherry: This will add a festive touch to your drinks.
  • Experiment with different rums: There are many different types of rum available, so feel free to experiment to find the one you like best in your Painkillers. Some good options include light rum, dark rum, and spiced rum.
  • Make a virgin Painkiller: If you don't want to use alcohol, you can make a virgin Painkiller by omitting the rum. Simply add more pineapple juice or coconut cream to taste.

Conclusion:

The Painkiller is a delicious and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you are looking for a tropical drink to enjoy, give the Painkiller a try. You won't be disappointed!
