HAM LOAF
"I COPIED this recipe exactly the way Grandma has written it in her worn cookbook. The only difference today is that I can't get home-smoked ham like those Grandpa used to cure in his old-fashioned smokehouse. But that never matters to hungry folks at the table-Grandma's recipe is a winner every time!"

GRAM'S HAM LOAF
Famous Western Pennsylvania Ham Loaf. Perfect way to use up left over smoked ham after Christmas or Easter. Be sure to serve it with a generous amount of sauce. We use a hand-held meat grinder that belonged to my husband's great-grandmother - doesn't take long and is somewhat nostalgic.

Tips:
- Choose the right ham: Use a fully cooked ham that is not too salty. If the ham is too salty, it will overpower the other flavors in the loaf.
- Grind the ham finely: This will help the ham to bind together and create a smooth texture.
- Use a variety of spices: This will add flavor and depth to the loaf. Some good options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper.
- Don't overmix the ingredients: Overmixing can make the loaf tough.
- Bake the loaf in a covered dish: This will help to keep the loaf moist.
- Let the loaf cool completely before slicing: This will help the loaf to hold its shape.
Conclusion:
Ham loaf is a versatile and delicious dish that can be served as an appetizer, main course, or sandwich. It's also a great way to use up leftover ham. With so many variations to choose from, there's sure to be a ham loaf recipe that everyone will enjoy.
