THERMOMIX PEANUT BUTTER

I recently purchased a Thermomix, 2 years after my last one finally broke (it was old and well-used). I'm so happy to have one again - it was like having an arm cut off being without one. I thought that I'd be able to do many of the things I used to do with it in my food processor - WRONG! No, I couldn't. Anyway, I'm thrilled to have one again, and it's getting heavy duty usage. I figured that it would be ideal for making homemade peanut butter, and a quick search turned up the following recipe from http://www.kidsinperth.com/htm/KIP%20104/Health&Sport&Nutrition.htm - an article by Thermomix in Australia.

Turn peanuts into peanut butter with this simple recipe.

Categories     Dips & Spreads

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 1

500g dry roasted peanuts, note 1

Steps:

  • For crunchy peanut butter, weigh 50g of the peanuts into the Thermomix bowl, and turbo pulse so the peanuts are broken up into tiny pieces. Transfer to a bowl and put aside.
  • Add the remaining peanuts to the Thermomix bowl and grind for 1 min/speed 9. For smooth peanut butter, simply add all the peanuts at once to the Thermomix bowl and grind for 1 min/speed 9.
  • Scrape down the bowl and grind for 2 mins/speed 5.
  • Scrape down the bowl and grind for 1 min/speed 5.
  • For crunchy peanut butter, add the reserved chopped peanuts to the Thermomix bowl and mix for 5 sec/reverse/speed 3 until combined.
  • Transfer to a jar or container and allow to cool before sealing the lid.
  • Store the peanut butter in the fridge for 2-3 months.

Tips:

  • Use roasted peanuts: Roasting the peanuts before making the peanut butter enhances their flavor and makes them more aromatic.
  • Adjust the consistency: The consistency of the peanut butter can be adjusted by adding more or less oil. If you prefer a smoother peanut butter, add more oil. If you prefer a thicker peanut butter, add less oil.
  • Add flavorings: To add extra flavor to your peanut butter, you can add ingredients like honey, chocolate, or cinnamon. You can also add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor of the peanuts.
  • Store properly: Store the peanut butter in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Peanut butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 months or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Conclusion:

Making peanut butter at home with a Thermomix is a simple and rewarding process. With just a few ingredients and a few minutes of your time, you can create a delicious and healthy peanut butter that is perfect for spreading on toast, adding to smoothies, or using in baking. So next time you're in the mood for peanut butter, skip the store-bought stuff and make your own with your Thermomix. You won't be disappointed!
