THREE SEED BREAD FOR BREAD MAKER ABM

Three Seed Bread for Bread Maker Abm image

This is a delicious, nutritious breadmaker recipe that I got off a package of Bob's Red Mill flaxseed. Only way I've altered it is by adding 1/8 cup of wheat gluten to it--as I do all my breadmaker recipes. Seems to make them stay fresh a bit longer!

Three Seed Bread (From Bread Machine to Oven) image

A recipe from Bob's Red Mill Flaxseed sounded interesting because I have been looking for ways to include more Omega-3's in our diet. The whole wheat and flaxseed in this recipe intrigued me, so I made a couple of adaptations and tried it. It was nice!

Time 3h30m

Yield 1 loaf, 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/4 cups skim milk
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 cups unbleached white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/3 cup milled flax seed
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
1 tablespoon poppy seed
2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Add ingredients to bread machine in the order recommended by the bread machine manufacturer and select the basic dough cycle.
  • When dough is complete, dump it out onto lightly oiled baking sheet and roll it into a loaf. Spray top lightly with oil.
  • Proof in oven for about an hour.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 30-40 minutes or until browned.
  • Let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of seeds: The combination of flax, sunflower, and chia seeds provides a great balance of flavor and nutrients. Feel free to experiment with other types of seeds, such as sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, or hemp seeds.
  • Grind the flax seeds: Grinding the flax seeds helps to release their nutrients and makes them more digestible. You can use a coffee grinder or a food processor to grind the seeds.
  • Soak the chia seeds: Soaking the chia seeds helps to soften them and makes them more gel-like. This helps to bind the bread together and gives it a moist texture.
  • Use a combination of flours: Using a combination of all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour gives the bread a nice balance of flavor and texture. You can also use other types of flour, such as rye flour or oat flour.
  • Let the dough rise twice: Letting the dough rise twice helps to develop the flavor and texture of the bread. The first rise allows the yeast to grow and produce carbon dioxide gas, which creates bubbles in the dough. The second rise helps to proof the dough and give it a light and airy texture.
  • Bake the bread at a high temperature: Baking the bread at a high temperature helps to create a crispy crust and a moist interior.

Conclusion:

This three-seed bread is a delicious and nutritious loaf that is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste preferences. Whether you are a seasoned baker or a beginner, this recipe is a great one to try. So next time you are looking for a healthy and satisfying bread recipe, give this three-seed bread a try. You won't be disappointed!
