In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth; gradually stir into cooking juices. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until thickened.

Tips:

  • Choose the right short ribs: Look for short ribs that are well-marbled with fat, as this will help keep them moist during cooking. Beef short ribs are the most common type, but you can also find pork or lamb short ribs.
  • Brown the short ribs before braising: Browning the short ribs in a hot pan before braising them will help develop their flavor and give them a nice color. Be sure to brown the ribs on all sides.
  • Use a flavorful braising liquid: The braising liquid is what will give the short ribs their flavor, so be sure to use a liquid that you enjoy the taste of. Some popular options include red wine, beef broth, and tomato sauce.
  • Cook the short ribs until they are fall-off-the-bone tender: Short ribs should be cooked until they are fall-off-the-bone tender, which usually takes about 2-3 hours. You can check the tenderness of the ribs by inserting a fork into them. If the fork slides in easily, the ribs are done.
  • Serve the short ribs with your favorite sides: Short ribs can be served with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables. You can also serve them with a dipping sauce, such as barbecue sauce or horseradish sauce.

Conclusion:

Short ribs are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for a special occasion or a casual weeknight meal. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make short ribs at home that will impress your family and friends.
