Time 25m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb lean ground beef
1 (19 ounce) can Italian stewed tomatoes (could use 28 oz. if you added more parm. cheese)
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 minced garlic clove (I actually use 2)
1/4-1/2 cup parmesan cheese (I probably use more but I am a cheese fiend)
3 cups macaroni (before cooked, you could probably mess around with that amount as I am just estimating, I just pour)

Steps:

  • Fry ground beef in large size frying pan until almost all red is gone.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic and continue frying until beef is completely cooked.
  • Add the tomatoes and parmesan cheese and stir completely.
  • Lower heat and simmer while you cook the macaroni (about 20 minutes).
  • When macaroni is done, just mix it all together and serve.
  • Have your spouse clean up the mess cuz really, who needs the grief.

Time 30m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb ground beef, browned
2 onions, large chopped
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 (16 ounce) bag elbow macaroni
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon garlic salt (I use Lawry's)
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder

Steps:

  • Saute beef, 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes and 2 onions in large frying pan. Drain excess fat. Lots of onions makes this good.
  • Meanwhile, in another pan cook macaroni in boiling, salted water until tender. Set aside until almost ready to serve.
  • When beef and onions are finished cooking, add the canned, crushed tomatores and approximately 1/2 cup water; also add garlic salt, pepper, chili powder and mix well.
  • Simmer for about 20 minutes; then add cooked macaroni noodles and mix well when ready to serve. If you add the macaroni noodles too soon, they may over cook and get mushy.

COUNTRY GOULASH

My grandfather came from Hungary when he was three. My grandmother made this recipe for a taste of home for him. It is Americanized, but still delicious. He added sour cream to his, while we kids we ate it plain. The consistency grandma made was like a casserole or stew rather than a soup.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. If tomatoes are not in season, you can use canned diced tomatoes.
  • Brown the ground beef well before adding the other ingredients. This will help to develop the flavor of the dish.
  • Add a variety of vegetables to the goulash, such as diced carrots, celery, and onions. This will add flavor and texture to the dish.
  • Use a good quality macaroni. A sturdier macaroni, like penne or shells, will hold up better in the goulash and not get mushy.
  • Season the goulash to taste with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Serve the goulash with a side of crusty bread or crackers.

Conclusion:

Tomato hamburger macaroni goulash is a hearty and delicious meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its combination of ground beef, macaroni, tomatoes, and vegetables, this goulash is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
