TOUCHDOWN PEPPERONI PIZZA SANDWICH

Touchdown Pepperoni Pizza Sandwich image

This is a hybrid of a pizza and a sandwich--in one handy little package. Mix-n-match to adjust for your own personal tastes. I dreamed this up while in line at the check-out knowing I needed something quick to satisfy DS who was anxious to get over to his friend's to watch the game on the big screen TV. DH and the Peanut Gallery thought this rated five stars! Hope you do, too! IDEA: Use the toaster oven OR a panini-maker to get these sammies to the peak of perfection!!!

Time 20m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons garlic powder
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 loaf french bread, about 16 inches (40 cm) long and 5 inches (13 cm) wide
1 cup pizza sauce
8 slices mozzarella cheese
30 slices pepperoni
¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Heat a grill or campfire to medium heat.

  • Open the bread and spread the pizza sauce liberally over both sides. Lay the sliced mozzarella on both sides of the bread. Lay half of the pepperoni slices over the mozzarella on the bottom half. Sprinkle with the shredded mozzarella, then top with the remaining pepperoni. Sprinkle the Parmesan and basil over the pepperoni, then gently bring both sides of the bread up together to close.

  • Let sandwich cool for a few minutes before carefully unwrapping. Slice and serve.
  • Enjoy!

PEPPERONI SANDWICH

This was something that I made when I was running low on food so I used what I had. I discovered I should do that more often because it came out really good and it's inexpensive. It's made on B&M brown bread. The amount of cheese isn't exact, change it to suit your taste.

TOUCHDOWN PIZZA

Touchdown Pizza image

My favorite sports pub serves this, and I've come up with a simple and delicious home version. Many local restaurants sell wing sauce, and most grocery stores carry it near the steak and BBQ sauces. It's rich, so serve in squares as an appetizer. Serve ranch dressing, celery, and carrot sticks on the side. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Fresh, flavorful pepperoni, gooey mozzarella cheese, and a crispy, fluffy bread roll are essential.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of bread. A sturdy Italian roll or hoagie bun is a classic choice, but you could also try a soft and chewy ciabatta roll or a crispy French bread baguette.
  • Load up on the toppings. The more pepperoni, cheese, and other toppings you add, the more delicious your sandwich will be. Just be sure not to overload it so that it becomes difficult to eat.
  • Cook the sandwich until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden brown. This will ensure that the sandwich is hot and gooey in the center and crispy on the outside.
  • Serve the sandwich with your favorite dipping sauce. Marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or even honey mustard are all great options.

Conclusion:

The Touchdown Pepperoni Pizza Sandwich is a delicious and easy-to-make sandwich that is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. With its crispy bread, gooey cheese, and flavorful pepperoni, this sandwich is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
