Steps:
- Peel mango.
- Slice fruit from stone in long thick pieces, then chop into smaller bite sized pieces.
- Chop pepper into similar-size pieces.
- Slice tomatoes into 2 or 3 rounds.
- Core and seed jalapeno, then mince.
- Thinly slice onion diagonally.
- Place all in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil and lime juice.
- Stir in garlic, salt and basil, coriander or cilantro until evenly mixed.
- Salsa will keep well for several hours covered in the fridge.
Tips:
- To select the best mangoes for salsa, choose firm, ripe mangoes with a sweet aroma. Avoid mangoes with bruises or blemishes, as these can affect the flavor and texture of the salsa.
- Use a variety of colors of bell peppers to add visual appeal to the salsa. Red, orange, and yellow bell peppers are all good choices.
- If you don't have fresh cilantro, you can substitute dried cilantro. However, fresh cilantro will give the salsa a more vibrant flavor.
- Use a sharp knife to finely dice the vegetables and herbs. This will help the salsa to have a uniform consistency.
- Taste the salsa before serving and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more lime juice, salt, or pepper to suit your taste.
Conclusion:
Trinidad Mango Salsa is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. It can be served as a dip with tortilla chips, as a topping for grilled fish or chicken, or as a side dish with rice and beans. No matter how you choose to serve it, Trinidad Mango Salsa is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
