Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 vanilla bean
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons superfine sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Split vanilla bean lengthwise with the tip of a sharp knife. Holding the pod open, scrape seeds from each half using the flat side of the knife.
  • Transfer vanilla seeds to a large bowl. Discard pod.
  • Pour heavy cream over vanilla seeds. Add sugar and vanilla extract. Whip with an electric mixer until soft peaks form, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and chill until serving.
  • Note: For almond Chantilly cream, use 1/2 teaspoon almond extract instead of vanilla extract.
  • Note: Use regular white sugar instead of superfine sugar if desired.
  • Note: If you over-whip the cream and it becomes stiff, just add a bit more heavy whipping cream and whip softly by hand to reconstitute. You ain't makin' butter... rather a sweet cream.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your chantilly cream. Look for fresh, heavy cream and pure vanilla extract.
  • Chill the cream and beaters before whipping. This will help the cream whip up faster and more evenly.
  • Whip the cream on medium speed. If you whip it too fast, you'll overbeat it and it will become grainy.
  • Be patient. It takes a few minutes to whip cream to stiff peaks. Don't give up if it seems like it's taking forever.
  • Flavor the cream to your liking. You can add vanilla extract, sugar, or other flavorings to taste.
  • Serve the cream immediately. Chantilly cream is best when it's fresh.

Conclusion:

Vanilla chantilly cream is a versatile and delicious dessert topping. It can be used to top cakes, pies, tarts, and other pastries. It can also be served as a dip for fruit or cookies. With its light and airy texture and sweet, vanilla flavor, chantilly cream is sure to please everyone at your table.
