Tips:

  • Choose the right cabbage: Green cabbage is the most common type of cabbage used for coleslaw, but you can also use red cabbage or a combination of both. If you use red cabbage, the coleslaw will have a slightly sweeter flavor.
  • Shred the cabbage thinly: This will help the coleslaw to absorb the dressing more easily.
  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline: This will help to create even, thin shreds of cabbage.
  • Add other vegetables: You can add other vegetables to your coleslaw, such as carrots, celery, onions, or bell peppers. This will add extra flavor and texture.
  • Make the dressing ahead of time: This will allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Taste the dressing before adding it to the coleslaw: You may need to adjust the seasonings to your liking.
  • Toss the coleslaw gently: This will help to prevent the cabbage from getting bruised.
  • Serve the coleslaw immediately or chill it for later: Coleslaw can be served immediately after it is made, or it can be chilled for later. If you are chilling the coleslaw, be sure to stir it before serving.
