GRAPEFRUIT TEA

Grapefruit Tea image

This is a recipe from Body & Soul Magazine. My Mom made it for me when I wasn't feeling well. At first sip, I didn't care for it, but by the end of the glass I loved it! Others who have tried it have said the same, at first you wonder; but then it's great. The article said that red/pink grapefruits are high in lycopene and vitamins A and C. They also offer potassium and folate.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and juicy grapefruits: The quality of your grapefruit will greatly impact the flavor of your tea. Look for grapefruits that are heavy for their size, have a smooth and unblemished rind, and yield to gentle pressure.
  • Use fresh grapefruit zest: Fresh grapefruit zest adds a burst of citrusy flavor to the tea. Avoid using store-bought zest, as it may have lost its potency.
  • Steep the tea for the right amount of time: Over-steeping the tea can make it bitter. Steep the tea for 3-5 minutes, depending on your desired strength.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your taste: The amount of honey you add to the tea is a matter of personal preference. Taste the tea before adding honey, and adjust the amount until you reach your desired sweetness.
  • Garnish the tea with fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as mint or basil, can add a refreshing touch to the tea. Garnish the tea with a sprig of your favorite herb before serving.

Conclusion:

Warm grapefruit tea is a delicious and refreshing beverage that is perfect for any time of day. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed hot or cold. With its unique flavor and potential health benefits, grapefruit tea is a great addition to any healthy diet. So next time you're looking for a warm and comforting drink, give grapefruit tea a try!
