BUSY DAY COBBLER

Busy Day Cobbler image

A FABULOUS recipe for fruit cobbler! The best part about it is that you can choose the fruit; and if you don't have canned fruit on hand you can use 5 to 6 cups chopped, fresh fruit. The golden topping is delicious! We like to eat ours served hot with milk, but ice cream would probably be great, too. A dear friend shared this recipe several years ago, and we've been using it ever since. Just like the title suggests, it's also a great time-saver on a busy day!

Tips:

  • Fresh, ripe peaches are essential for the best cobbler. Choose peaches that are fragrant and have a slight give when gently pressed.
  • If you don't have self-rising flour, you can make your own by adding 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt to each cup of all-purpose flour.
  • If you want a crispier crust, use a mixture of butter and shortening in the topping. The butter will add flavor, while the shortening will help the crust brown.
  • Don't overmix the cobbler batter. Overmixing will make the crust tough.
  • Bake the cobbler until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  • Let the cobbler cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. This will allow the filling to set.
  • Serve the cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Conclusion:

Peach cobbler is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its sweet, juicy peaches and flaky crust, it's the perfect way to end a meal or enjoy a special occasion. These recipes provide a variety of ways to make peach cobbler, from simple to more elaborate. No matter which recipe you choose, you're sure to enjoy this delicious dessert.
