Tips for Making White Potato Pie

  • Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for white potato pie, as they have a high starch content that makes them light and fluffy. If you don't have Russet potatoes, you can use Yukon Gold or another type of starchy potato.
  • Boil the potatoes until they are very soft: This will ensure that they are easy to mash and will make the pie filling smooth and creamy.
  • Use a generous amount of butter and milk: These ingredients will help to make the pie filling rich and flavorful. You can also add sour cream or cream cheese for an even more decadent filling.
  • Season the pie filling to taste: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all good options. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as thyme, rosemary, or nutmeg, to taste.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This will usually take about 45 minutes. You can check to see if the pie is done by inserting a toothpick into the center of the filling. If the toothpick comes out clean, the pie is done.
