WHITE TRASH CASSEROLE

Found on Pinterest and shared so many times not sure who came up with it. The original recipe calls for Cream of Mushroom Soup, but I love Cream of Onion so I changed. You could use mushroom, onion or even Cream of Celery. Whatever you have on hand.

WHITE TRASH BROCCOLI CASSEROLE

White Trash Broccoli Casserole image

Any recipe that calls for a canned cream soup is kinda white trashy, in my opinion, but you gotta admit it tastes good and it's easy--and kids actually like it! ( In fact this is the recipe that finally got my son to say "I like broccoli!" ) I try to use a reduced fat cream soup and sour cream to keep the calories down. This is a great side dish for meatloaf, Salisbury steak or any hamburger-based dish.

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 11

Ingredients:
8 slices bread, cubed
1 pound link sausage cut up
1 1/2 cups extra sharp Cheddar cheese(shredded)
6 eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk

Steps:

  • Grease large, flat baking dish. Completely cover bottom of dish with bread slices, allowing them to rise along sides slightly for crust. Spread cooked sausage to cover. Spread cheese to cover. Mix eggs and 2 cups milk and mustard - pour over casserole. Refrigerate overnight. It must set over night. Next morning, preheat oven to 375. Mix soup and milk and cover casserole. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes or until completely set.

Tips:

- Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Fresh vegetables, lean ground beef, and a creamy soup base are all essential for a delicious casserole. - Don't overcook the pasta. Al dente pasta is best for casseroles, as it will hold its shape and won't become mushy. - Layer the ingredients in the casserole dish in the order they are listed in the recipe. This will help to ensure that the casserole cooks evenly. - Bake the casserole until it is bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden brown. This will take about 30 minutes. - Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help to prevent the casserole from falling apart.

Conclusion:

White Trash Casserole is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy, cheesy sauce, tender noodles, and flavorful ground beef, this casserole is sure to become a family favorite. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give White Trash Casserole a try. You won't be disappointed!
