Number Of Ingredients 15

1 box yellow cake mix
1 3 oz box vanilla pudding
3/4 C water
3/4 C oil
1/4 C white wine
4 eggs
1/4 C brown sugar
1/4 C white sugar
2 t cinnamon
1/2 C chopped pecans, divided
Glaze:
1 stick of butter
1 C sugar
1/4 C water
1/4 C white wine

Steps:

  • For the cake: mix all of the ingredients except 1/4 C of the pecans in a bowl. Blend well. Grease and flour a bundt pan and then sprinkle the bottom of the pan with the remaining 1/4 C pecans. Pour batter into the pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes. For the Glaze, Bring the butter, sugar, and water to boil in a pot and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the wine. Remove cake from the oven and poke holes in the bottom of the cake. Spoon 1/2 the glaze over the bottom of the cake and let cool for 10 minutes. Turn the cake out onto the plate and spoon the rest of the glaze over the top.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start baking, measure and prepare all of your ingredients. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you have everything you need.
  • Use Room Temperature Ingredients: When a recipe calls for room temperature ingredients, it means that they should be at about 70°F (21°C). This helps the ingredients blend together more easily and results in a smoother batter.
  • Cream the Butter and Sugar Together: This step is essential for creating a light and fluffy cake. Cream the butter and sugar together until they are light and airy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the Eggs One at a Time: Gradually add the eggs to the creamed butter and sugar mixture, one at a time. This will help prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Do Not Overmix the Batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a Bundt Pan: A Bundt pan is a great choice for baking white wine cake because it allows the cake to rise evenly and creates a beautiful fluted design.
  • Bake the Cake in a Preheated Oven: Preheat the oven to the desired temperature before you start baking the cake. This will help ensure that the cake bakes evenly.
  • Cool the Cake Completely: Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before frosting it. This will help prevent the frosting from melting.

Conclusion:

With its delicate flavor and moist texture, white wine cake is a classic dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you choose to frost it with a simple glaze or a rich, creamy frosting, this cake is sure to be a hit at your next gathering. So next time you're looking for a special dessert to serve, give white wine cake a try. You won't be disappointed!
