Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 large eggs
1 cup milk, of choice
2 tablespoons maple syrup, plus more for serving
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
salt, to taste
8 slices whole wheat bread
powdered sugar, for sprinkling

Steps:

  • Preheat Griddler, fitted with the griddle plates, to 375°F (190°C), and grease with nonstick spray.
  • Use a whisk to beat the eggs in a 9x13-inch (23x33-cm) casserole dish until smooth.
  • Add the milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt, and whisk until smooth and well combined.
  • Dunk the bread in the batter, 4 slices at a time, until just soaked. Do not let the bread soak in the wet ingredients too long or it will become too wet and fall apart when you attempt to pick it up.
  • Transfer the soaked bread to the Griddler and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, and serve.
  • Enjoy!

Tips for Making the Best Whole Wheat French Toast (Vegan)

  • Use a good quality bread. The best French toast starts with a good quality bread. Look for a bread that is slightly stale, as this will help it absorb the custard and cook evenly.
  • Make the custard ahead of time. This will give the flavors time to meld and will make the French toast easier to cook.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When cooking the French toast, don't overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the French toast from cooking evenly.
  • Cook the French toast over medium heat. Cooking the French toast over medium heat will help it cook evenly and prevent it from burning.
  • Flip the French toast only once. Flipping the French toast too often will make it break. Flip the French toast only once, when it is golden brown on the bottom.
  • Serve the French toast immediately. French toast is best served immediately, while it is still warm and fluffy.

Conclusion

With a few simple ingredients, you can make a delicious and satisfying vegan French toast that the whole family will enjoy.
