Tips:

  • Select fresh, tender green beans: Look for beans that are bright green in color and snap easily when you bend them. Avoid beans that are limp or have brown spots.
  • Trim the green beans: Remove the stem ends of the beans by snapping them off or using a sharp knife. You can also trim the tips of the beans if desired.
  • Blanch the green beans: Blanching the beans briefly in boiling water helps to preserve their color and crispness. To blanch the beans, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the beans and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain the beans in a colander and then rinse them with cold water.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The marinade helps to infuse the green beans with flavor. Be sure to use a marinade that contains an acidic ingredient, such as vinegar, lemon juice, or wine. This will help to break down the beans' tough fibers and make them more tender.
  • Cook the green beans over medium heat: Cooking the beans over medium heat allows them to cook evenly and prevents them from becoming tough.
  • Stir the green beans frequently: Stirring the beans frequently helps to prevent them from sticking to the pan and ensures that they cook evenly.
  • Serve the green beans immediately: Green beans are best served fresh. If you need to store them, place them in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

This recipe is a simple and delicious way to enjoy green beans. The beans are blanched to preserve their color and crispness, then marinated in a flavorful mixture of olive oil, vinegar, garlic, and herbs. The beans are then cooked over medium heat until they are tender-crisp. This recipe is perfect for a quick and easy side dish or as part of a main course.
