Time 1h

Yield 2 quarts

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 quarts water
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup half-and-half
1/3 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
2 teaspoons whole cloves
2 teaspoons cardamom seeds
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer. Add the milk, half-and-half, sugar, and cinnamon, and simmer for 15 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer an additional 30 minutes. Strain and serve hot or cold.

Tips

  • If you want an easy version, use the original Yogi Tea tea bags. If not, gather all the spices (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper) to make your own blend.
  • When making the homemade version, toast the spices for a more intense flavor. To do this, heat a small pan over medium heat until hot. Reduce heat to low. Add the spices and stir until fragrant and slightly browned, about 1-2 minutes. Turn off heat and let spices cool completely.
  • Make sure the ginger is peeled before grating, to avoid a bitter taste.
  • The milk in the recipe can be substituted with water, almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk for a vegan version.
  • For a caffeine-free version, eliminate the black tea. You can also use rooibos, chamomile, or another herbal tea instead.
  • Strain the tea before drinking to remove the spices.

Conclusion

Yogi Tea is a delicious and versatile beverage that has been enjoyed for centuries. It is believed to have a number of health benefits, including reducing anxiety, improving digestion, and boosting immunity. Whether you choose to make it at home or purchase pre-made tea bags, Yogi Tea is a wonderful way to relax and enjoy a healthy cup of tea.
