Zatarains was the real thing and boxes of it were found in just about every home in New Orleans. We also like to add 2-3 lemons, quartered, to the water. This is enough for 5lbs shrimp or a dozen blue swimmers.

Tips:

  • Use fresh seafood for the best results. Frozen seafood can also be used, but it should be thawed completely before cooking.
  • If you are using frozen corn on the cob, thaw it in cold water before adding it to the boil.
  • Add the potatoes and sausage to the boil first, as they take the longest to cook.
  • Add the shrimp and crab legs last, as they cook quickly.
  • Do not overcook the seafood, or it will become tough.
  • Serve the crab boil with melted butter, lemon wedges, and your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Zatarain's Copycat Crab Boil Mix is a delicious and easy way to enjoy a classic Cajun dish. This recipe can be easily customized to your liking, so you can make it as mild or spicy as you like. Serve it with your favorite sides, and you'll have a meal that everyone will love.
