Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb ziti pasta (or whatever type you like!)
1/3 c olive oil
1 clove garlic, chopped (can used jarred garlic)
1/4 c butter
2 small zucchini, quartered and sliced
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
8 oz mushrooms, fresh, sliced
1 Tbsp dried oregano
1 Tbsp paprika
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package directions or until al dente; drain. "Al dente" means the pasta is tender, but still firm to the bite.
  • 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter with the olive oil and saute the garlic, zucchini, onion, tomato, mushrooms, oregano, paprika, salt and pepper for 15 to 20 minutes. Combine the pasta and sauteed vegetables and toss.

ZIPPY BAKED ZITI

This recipe originally came from my mother, as most recipes I use have. Some people think that making your own marinara sauce is daunting, but it's soooo easy and it makes all the difference in this recipe to use a freshly made sauce versus a canned variety! Look for my "Mmmarinara Sauce" recipe!

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb cooked ziti (or penne) pasta, cooked al dente
3 1/2 c mmmarinara sauce (see recipe, or use pre-made)
1/2 c grated parmesan cheese, divided
1/4 c grated romano cheese
1 lb fresh mozzarella (1/2 lb cubed, 1/2 lb sliced)
2 dash(es) black pepper
1 pinch crushed red pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • 2. In a large bowl, toss cooked pasta with the Mmmarinara sauce, 1/4 cup of the Parmesan, all of the Romano, and the mozzarella cubes.
  • 3. Season with the red pepper and black pepper to taste. Mix well.
  • 4. Transfer the pasta mix into an oiled 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover the top of the pasta with the mozzarella slices, and sprinkle the remaining Parmesan on top.
  • 5. Bake until lightly browned, approximately 30 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the pasta will taste. Look for fresh vegetables, flavorful cheese, and a good quality pasta sauce.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: This means cooking it until it is just tender, but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will be mushy and unpleasant.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: There are many different ways to make baked ziti. Feel free to add your own favorite ingredients or try different types of cheese.
  • Make sure the pasta is completely covered in sauce: This will help to ensure that it is cooked evenly and that the flavors are well-distributed.
  • Bake the pasta until it is bubbly and golden brown: This will give it a nice crispy top and a gooey, cheesy interior.

Conclusion:

Baked ziti is a delicious and versatile dish that is perfect for any occasion. It can be made with a variety of different ingredients, so it is sure to please everyone at the table. Whether you are looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a special dish for a party, baked ziti is a great option.
