Number Of Ingredients 2

Butter
Loaf bread

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Trim the crusts off four thin slices of loaf bread. Leave the slices whole or cut each slice (to serve as a base for certain savories such as angels on horseback, deviled chicken livers and so on) into uniform rectangles.
  • Melt one tablespoon of butter and butter the bread on both sides. Arrange the bread pieces on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake six minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom. Turn the pieces and continue baking one or two minutes longer until browned on the second side.

I tried this recipe and it was a disaster. The toast was burnt and the butter was too greasy.

This recipe is a bit too simple for my taste. I like to add a few more ingredients to make it more interesting.

I'm not sure why this recipe is called 'buttered toast'. It's more like 'garlic bread' to me.

This recipe is a great base for other dishes. I often use it to make garlic bread or croutons.

I like to add a little bit of cheese to this recipe. It makes it even more decadent.

I'm not a big fan of butter, so I use olive oil instead. It's still delicious and a lot healthier.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover bread. I always have a few slices of bread that are about to go stale, so I make this recipe to use them up.

This recipe is a classic for a reason. It's simple, quick, and delicious. I love the way the butter melts into the bread and makes it crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
