Butterscotch Bird Nests image

My aunt introduced me to these fun little snacks. We made them for Easter and it was a perfect treat, not to mention a hit with everyone! The recipe can be tweaked to however you like your nests, and it is all based on personal preference.

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (12 oz.) pkg butterscotch chips
1 large can(s) chow mein noodles
1 pkg candy eggs (i used the "robin's eggs")

Steps:

  • 1. Put the butterscotch chips in a glass bowl and melt in the microwave. The amount is completely optional, I used the entire bag.
  • 2. Once the chips are melted, stir in the chow mein noodles.
  • 3. On a piece of parchment paper, take a small scoop of the chow mein noodle mixture and form a small nest with your hands. Place the eggs on top.
  • 4. Do not refrigerate, just leave uncovered on parchment paper to dry.

I'm not a big fan of peanut butter, but I'm willing to give these a try.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but mine didn't turn out as good as the picture. They were still tasty though.

I had a hard time finding chow mein noodles, so I used angel hair pasta instead. It worked out great!

These were a little too sweet for my taste, but my kids loved them.

I'm not a huge fan of butterscotch, but these were still really good. The chocolate and peanut butter flavors really shine through.

These were delicious! I used dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet and they were perfect.

I've made these bird nests several times now and they always turn out perfect. They're the perfect combination of sweet and salty.
