Butterscotch Sauce image

This is a nice alternative to traditional chocolate sauce. It doesn't last long around my house...my husband and our three boys love it. -Arlene Bontrager, Haven, Kansas

Yield about 1-1/2 cups.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Steps:

  • In a heavy saucepan, combine the corn syrup, brown sugar, butter and salt. Cook and stir over medium-low heat. Stir in the cream. Bring to a boil; boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Cool to room temperature. Store in the refrigerator.

This sauce was a total success! It came together quickly and easily, and the flavor was spot-on. I drizzled it over vanilla ice cream and it was heavenly.

This butterscotch sauce is incredibly easy to make and tastes absolutely delicious. I used it to top my apple pie and it was a huge hit. The sauce is rich and creamy with a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness.
