Can't take credit for this one, it is straight out of Taste of Home's mag and have been making this for years. This is one of my grandsons favorite dishes. I did add some more cheese, onion and garlic for a little more flavor, but other than that it is identical to what was published originally

Categories     Beef

Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tsp olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 lb ground chuck
10 3/4 oz ( one can) golden mushroom soup, undiluted
10 3/4 oz (one can) cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
4 oz buffalo cheddar cheese shredded, or you favorite cheddar
20 oz frozen crinkle cut french fries
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the olive oil in a saucier, add the onion and saute until translucent, add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • 2. Add the hamburg and cook until no longer pink, put in a large bowl. Add in pepper and salt to taste. I usually don't add salt because of the salt content of the soups.
  • 3. Stir in both cans of soup, the shredded cheese, and pour into a 9x13 inch pan that has been sprayed with non stick spray.
  • 4. Arrange the french fries over the top and bake in a pre heated 350° oven until fries are golden.

I found that the casserole was a bit dry. I would add some extra sauce or gravy next time.

I made a few substitutions to the recipe and it still turned out great. I used ground turkey instead of beef and I used a gluten-free breadcrumb topping.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect. The casserole was cooked evenly and the cheese was melted and gooey.

This cheeseburger and fries casserole was a hit with my family! The combination of ground beef, cheese, and fries was a winner, and the casserole was easy to make.
