Chocolate-Applesauce-Flax Seed Bars image

This is a variation of a recipe from "Desserts for Diabetics" by Mabel Cavaiani. This is very easy to make, and they stay moist for a couple days (they never last longer around here!) DO NOT try using cold applesauce--doesn't work! You can make these non-diabetic friendly by using all sugar. NOTE: The flax seed is whole seed, not ground.

These bars are a great way to get your kids to eat more fruit and vegetables. The applesauce and flax seed are hidden in the bars, so kids won't even know they're eating them.

I love that these bars are made with flax seed. Flax seed is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for heart health.
