Steps:
- In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together butter and brown sugar; add egg and vanilla and mix well. Add flour and salt and mix until incorporated. By hand stir in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Spread evenly into lightly buttered 9x13-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over top of bars and let stand for 5 minutes. Spread chocolate over cookie base. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup walnuts over chocolate and press firmly. Cool and cut into bars.
