Number Of Ingredients 13

1/2 c sour cream
3 green onions, chopped with tops
3 Tbsp bread crumbs
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp lemon pepper
1 lb ground beef
4 hamburger buns
lettuce, shredded
4 slice tomato
4 slice onion
2 tsp mustard
1 Tbsp mayonnaise
1 Tbsp ketchup

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare white or yellow sweet onion by slicing in thick slices, place in plastic bag or glass jar with ice water, seal and refrigerate until ready to use. (This makes the onions very crisp and juicy.)
  • 2. Slice a vine-ripened tomato into 4 thick slices.
  • 3. Mix sour cream, chopped green onions, bread crumbs, worcestershire sauce and lemon pepper seasoning.
  • 4. Mix this in with the ground meat until combined well.
  • 5. Shape into 4 patties.
  • 6. Cooking the hamburger patties: GRILL: Place meat on grill over hot coals and cook to desired doneness, turning only once or twice.
  • 7. BROIL: Place meat in broiler pan; broil to desired doneness.
  • 8. MICROWAVE: Place meat in a microwave-safe dish and cover loosely with plastic wrap (made for microwave purposes); vent one edge slightly and microwave on highest power for 3 minutes.
  • 9. Turn patties over and cook 3 minutes longer or until desired doneness and rotate the dish 1/4 turn every 1-2 minutes and drain well.
  • 10. Mix the mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup and blend well.
  • 11. To serve, divide the ketchup mixture evenly on the warmed hamburger buns, top with a meat patty, tomato slice, onion slice and shredded lettuce.
  • 12. Also good with alfalfa or radish sprouts.

Overall, these hamburgers were a good basic recipe. I'll definitely be experimenting with different variations in the future.

I had some trouble getting the hamburgers to stay together on the grill. I think I'll try using a burger press next time.

The hamburgers were a little bland. I think I'll add some more seasoning next time.

These hamburgers are a great way to use up leftover ground beef.

I found that the hamburgers cooked a little too quickly over high heat. I'll try cooking them over medium heat next time.
