Easy Mexican Rice image

You can also add sauteed onion (as much as desired). I usually use 1/2 an onion. You can get creative and add cubed carrots (cooked until tender) or even peas. This is easy to make and beats packaged mexican rice any day.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 c long grain rice
2 1/2 c cold water
2 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic salt or 1 tsp. garlic powder
3/4 c tomato sauce

Steps:

  • 1. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add rice and cook until lightly browned. Add water and remaining ingredients, bring to a boil.
  • 2. Cover and simmer until rice is tender. Approx. 15 - 20 mins.
