French Garden Sweet Peas image

In France, the arrival of the first tiny sweet peas (petits pois) is cause for celebration. However, one 10oz package of frozen green peas (thawed) can be substituted for the fresh peas.

1 1/2 cups green peas (11/2 lbs in pods)
1 cup shredded lettuce
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
3 medium green onions, sliced
1 dash pepper

Steps:

  • Heat all ingredients to boiling; reduce heat.
  • Cover and cook about 8 minutes or until peas are tender.
