Grandma's Apple Tea image

In Russia, the apple season begins on St. Ilia's day, August 2. Here is the sweet, hot apple tea drink my grandma still makes for chilly autumn evenings.

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 cups hot black tea
4 cups boiling water
4 tablespoons raw sugar, or more to taste
1 large apple - peeled, cored and quartered

Steps:

  • Pour tea into large wide-rimmed cups or 1-pint soup bowls, filling them about half full. Dilute with freshly boiled water to a golden color; add 1 tablespoon sugar per cup.
  • Place an apple quarter in each cup. Stir and serve immediately.
