Categories     Fruit     Dessert

Yield 10-12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 stick butter (half cup)
1 c. flour
1.5 tsp baking powder
.5 tsp salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
.5 tsp almond flavoring
3 c. peeled and sliced fresh peaches, with juices*
*If juicy, flavorful peaches aren't in your market, substitute frozen peaches without added sugar.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put the butter in a 9x13 Pyrex baking dish and put the dish in the oven. While the butter is melting, mix up the batter by combining the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar first and then adding milk and almond flavoring. When the butter is completely melted, remove the pan and pour the batter into the melted butter. (It may not completely cover the bottom of the pan, but fear not.) Then, carefully spoon peaches and juice over the batter. Return dish to oven and bake for 30-45 minutes. (Test batter in center for doneness with toothpick.) As the cobbler cooks, the batter will rise up and around the peaches.

This recipe is a waste of time. The cobbler was bland and tasteless.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my cobbler didn't turn out as good as I hoped. The crust was too thick and the filling was too runny.

The cobbler was a bit dry, but the flavor was good.

This cobbler was a bit too sweet for my taste, but overall it was still good.

This peach cobbler was a hit with my family! The peaches were juicy and sweet, and the crust was perfectly golden brown and flaky. I'll definitely be making this again.
