Green Bean Gratin image

I saw this a few years ago on TV. I don't remember what show. I quickly wrote it down because it was so easy and looked so good.Instead of the green bean casserole during the holidays I make this one.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 lb fresh green beans cleaned
3 oz of blue cheese
1 pt heavy cream
1/2 c plain bread crumbs
1/4 c melted butter

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 2. Bring salted water to a boil and add the green beans and boil for 6 mins.
  • 3. Drain in a colander lined with a paper towel.
  • 4. Mix butter and bread crumbs together until crumbley.
  • 5. In a casserole dish sprinkle about a third of the bread crumb mixture on the bottom of the dish.
  • 6. Then place the beans on top.
  • 7. Crumble the blue cheese and add that next.
  • 8. Pour the cream over the beans and cheese.
  • 9. Sprinkle the remaining bread crumbs over the top and bake for 15 mins. When you take it out of the oven let it rest until the cream settles.

Overall, this was a good recipe. I would definitely make it again, but I would make a few changes.

The gratin was a bit too runny. I think I'll cook it for a few more minutes next time.

The gratin was a bit bland. I think I'll add some more salt and pepper next time.

This was a bit too cheesy for my taste, but it was still good.

I've made this gratin several times, and it's always a hit. It's a great way to use up leftover green beans.

This was easy to make and turned out great! I used frozen green beans, and they worked just fine. The gratin was creamy and cheesy, and the topping was crispy and flavorful.

I followed the recipe exactly, and the gratin turned out perfectly. The green beans were tender, the cheese sauce was creamy, and the topping was crispy and golden brown. I would definitely recommend this recipe.

This was a great side dish for our roasted chicken. The green beans were still slightly crunchy, and the cheese sauce was creamy and flavorful. It was easy to make, and it looked beautiful on the table.
