Hawaiian Ambrosia image

My dad liked this so my mom made it for get togethers. When I was old enough, I took over making it. Whenever my dad and his wife had the families over, his request was for this, and he did not like coconut! Now that both of my parents are gone, making this for other get togethers helps remind me of them.

Number Of Ingredients 5

minature marshmallows, 1 bag
regular or lite sour cream, 1 small container
1 can(s) mandarin oranges, drained
1 can(s) fruit cocktail, in syrup (lite, or packed in juices), mostly drained
coconut, one bag, sweetened

Steps:

  • 1. Combine all ingredients except coconut and marshmallows in a large bowl. Add coconut and marshamallows to taste and stir to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

I'm not a big fan of pineapple, but I love this salad! The marshmallows and coconut really balance out the flavor.

This salad is a great way to use up leftover pineapple. I always have a few cans of pineapple in my pantry, so this is a recipe I can always make.

I'm allergic to coconut, so I substituted almond milk for the coconut milk. It turned out great!

This salad is just okay. It's not bad, but it's not great either. I probably won't make it again.

This recipe is too sweet for my taste. I think I'll try it again with less sugar.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my salad didn't turn out as good as I hoped. It was still edible, but it wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be.
