Honey Spiced Winter Squash image

Sweet and buttery, this simple sauce will transform baked squash into a stellar side dish.

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 medium winter squash (acorn, delicata or carnival all work well)
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/3 cup honey

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Scrub squash to remove any dirt. Cut squash in half lengthwise; remove seeds and fibers. Arrange cut side down in ungreased shallow baking pan. Surround with 1/2 inch hot water.
  • Bake 30 minutes.
  • Mix remaining ingredients. Pour off water from baking pan, and turn squash cut side up. Pour mixture into squash cavities.
  • Bake 15 minutes longer.
