Hound Dog Pudding Pie image

I threw this dessert together one afternoon when I needed a dessert in a huge hurry. I had no time to cook, and it was a requirement that I take a dessert to a social event that I was attending. I have made it many times since then for my own family, and it has been a big hit each time. I hope you enjoy the dessert AND its...

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 box instant pudding mix (such as jello instant pudding)
1 box 6 serving individual graham cracker pie crusts
1/2 c chocolate or white chocolate chips (flavor depends on your taste and the flavor of the pudding you use)
1 can(s) aerosol whipped cream
1 small chocolate bar

Steps:

  • 1. Melt 1/2 cup of candy chips in microwave until a spreadable consistency. This usually takes only 30 seconds or less (depends on wattage of microwave). Add a couple of drops of water to melted chocolate if you want to thin it out a bit. Coat the inside of each pie shell with the chocolate.
  • 2. Prepare pudding as per package directions. Spoon pudding into individual pie shells and place in refrigerator. I usually put the pie shells into a cake pan and cover either with plastic wrap or with a plastic cover made to fit the cake pan. This makes it easy to transport if necessary, and it serves to protect the pudding from refrigerator odors.
  • 3. Before serving, shave the chocolate bar with a vegetable peeler or grater and reserve for the last step. Top each pie with desired amount of whipped cream and garnish with the shaved chocolate.

This recipe is not worth the effort. There are much better ways to use up leftover turkey.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out terrible. I don't know what I did wrong.

This recipe is way too bland. I had to add a lot of extra seasonings to make it taste good.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my pie crust turned out soggy. I think I might have added too much water.

This is a great recipe for using up leftover turkey or chicken.

Not bad! I'm not a huge fan of giblets, so I omitted those. I also used a pre-made pie crust to save time. It was still very tasty.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out great! The only thing I would change is to add a bit more salt to the filling.

This pudding pie was a hit! The combination of sweet and savory was perfect, and the crust was flaky and delicious. I'll definitely be making this again.
