Irish Scones image

My daughter loves this tasty treat with a cup of her favorite Irish Breakfast tea.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 c all purpose flour,unbleached
1/2 c sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 large eggs
6 Tbsp butter or vegetable shortering,melted
1/2 c reduced fat buttermilk
1/2 c raisins or chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 400 degrees.Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • 2. In another bowl lightly beat eggs,mix in melted butter and buttermilk.Add liquids to dry ingredients,mix to combine.Mix in raisins or chocolate chips.
  • 3. Divide dough into thirds.On a floured board pat each piece into a 1 inch thick circle.
  • 4. Cut each circle into quarters. Transfer wedges to baking sheet.Bake until golden,15 minutes.Serve warm.
